Happy chinese new year!!!
It's the year of tiger!! Roarrrr~~~ I spent one whole wonderful week at home this year, had lotsa good food, good chit-chat and of course ang paoss :):) I truly missed CNY because last year's CNY was spent in UK without much celebration and without my family. I love CNY!!!
Reunion dinner was held in Hakka Restaurant near Pavillion with 40+ relatives present. There were so many kids around, how fun :):) The night was filled a lot of laughter, singing and playing with kids. Dishes were typical chinese restaurant dishes...kinda disappointed because I thought they were gonna serve hakka dishes. Hehe but people are more important :D
Chu Yi was spent in PJ in my aunts' houses. Vegetarian breakfast + lunch as usual and lotsa cookies~~ An attempt to take group photo in my aunt's house, the actual shot is not with me.
We then moved on to Aunt Helen's house for gambling haha. Didn't take pictures cause I was busy playing mahjong and blackjack xD
On Chu 2 we went to Aunt Heemoi's house in Klang. I had 3 servings of lunch cause it was really delicious...hahaa I'm really deprived of good food in sg. The urge to gamble wasn't strong this year, blackjack is purely dependent on luck so it's not as fun as '13 zhang' and mahjong. Aunt's house turned into a mini genting with 2 mahjong tables, 1 '13 zhang' table and 1 blackjack table~~
Mummy smiled till 'can see teeth but not the eyes' for her blackjack xD
The kids were having fun in the karaoke-room...
There was also lion dance performance by Hin Hua Chinese Independent School :) More than 10 years ago my cousin who is now a mother of three was riding in the lorry performing lion dance everywhere too...time really flies.
I was carrying Hao En around cause he was a lil scared of the lions, wa my arms were sore after half an hour haha.
财神到!!
The fun continued till close to midnight. Before the day ended, some of us sat down at the kitchen reminiscing over the past. Stories of 50-60 years ago when my uncles and aunts were children running around playing in the kampungs. The childhood of kids nowadays is really different, too protected and too little nature. I hope my kids will still get the opportunity to climb trees, play with chickens, sands, kites, be dirty and adventurous, etc. Hehe which means...I hope they won't be growing up in sg...too much competition, too little fun =p
On Chu 3 about 40 of us gathered in Klang's Qi Xiang Restaurant for Hao Lun's third birthday celebration! It started with another round of 捞生~~
And happy birthday little Hao Lun :D:D
After the meal the fun continued in Aunt Heetai's house. Hehe as usual...
Chu 4 was spent at home most of the time with sis and brother's friends visiting. Hehe I finally had more time to play with the rabbits :) Meipoh came over for a while...lol she's really good in catching the rabbits, including the wildest 小野.
小狼burrying his head under 小野's butt
小猪与小虎~
It was my last day at home and I finally got to meet my friends :) Some of them came over to my house.
A family portrait with my ah luis and honey :D
With friends studying and working at different places, CNY is probably the only time we get to meet up. Haha can't believe I've know MP, SM, YC, GC, YH, WY for more than 10 years. Old people we are :s
After leaving my house we went to YC's shop to have dinner...ordered 6 dishes and paid only RM13 each, super cheap~ About 18 of us then went to GC's house. It's been more than 2 years since my last visit to his house, it used to be our hang-out place during secondary school days:) My best ji muis and brother!!
YC is flying to Saudi Arabia today...I guess the next time we meet will be next year's CNY, hopefully!!
Fuuuu...such a long post, tiring~
The only disappointment I have for this CNY is that I had to come to SG earlier on Friday instead of Sunday. AIH, what more can I say...peer pressure is not easy to cope with. This is the first time I feel truly frustrated about NUS, about this whole kiasu culture of NUS and...whatever...I think people try too hard to prove themselves sometimes, if one has confidence on one's own ability, he/she does not have to try so hard to prove him/herself by being better than the rest. Oh wells, it's the last 2 months of my student life so...I'm just gonna enjoy, screw the system.
